The Bountiful group was founded by Winston's father Ray Blackmore, and were affiliated with the he Fundamentalist Church of the Latter-Day Saints, one of the largest Mormon fundamentalist denominations and one of the largest organizations in the United States whose members practice polygamy. The mainstream Utah-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints abandoned polygamy in 1890.The Blackmore family are part of a church group in Bountiful, British Columbia, led by Winston Blackmore, who has 150 children and 22 wives, although he had up to 27 wives at one point. ![]() In 2011, the British Columbia supreme court affirmed that laws banning polygamy were constitutional and did not violate religious freedoms.
